Homer Shorebird Festival, Alaska
First week of May every year
Over 100,000 shorebirds pass through the region of Kachemak Bay, offering astonishing opportunities for viewing unique birds. The Homer Shorebird Festival offers a wide variety of birding workshops and presentations, making it an ideal place to learn about birds as well as observe them.
The Islands and Ocean Visitor Center will sponsor a book signing by the keynote speaker, Scott Weidensaul, on Saturday, May 7 at the Homer High School Theatre. Also, Tom Walker will lead a photography workshop on Saturday from 8 am until noon at the Islands and Ocean Visitor Center. Both events promise to be exciting and rewarding.
